Buena Regional Middle School is a proud recipient of Teaching And Learning with Essential New Technologies in the 21st  Century grant (TALENT21).The purpose of this grant is to prepare our students for life in the 21st century through the integration of technology into our daily instructional practices while lessening the digital divide among our students. Dell net books have been distributed to each 6th grade student for use at both school and home thereby incorporating technology into their everyday learning. This opportunity has also afforded our 6th grade teaching staff extensive professional development in utilization of technology in their classrooms, as well as implementing project base learning strategies. The regular use of whiteboards, document cameras, and online tools have enhanced learning and made our classrooms come alive. In preparing our students for the 21st century, we hope to:
  • Develop proficiency with the tools of technology

  • Build relationships with others to pose and solve problems collaboratively and cross-culturally

  • Design and share information for global communities to meet a variety of purposes

  • Manage, analyze and synthesize multiple streams of simultaneous information

  • Create, critique, analyze, and evaluate multi-media texts

  • Attend to the ethical responsibilities required by these complex environments
This initiative will expand to include our new 6th grade students during the 2011 – 2012 school year. Our 6th grade staff will turnkey professional development to the 7th grade staff through common planning time. By 2012 – 2013, all Buena Regional Middle School students will have a net book in their possession to enhance their learning and promote the acquisition of the skills needed for their futures.
We are very proud of the work that has been done thus far and are looking forward to the future successes of our students.
